McLeod Ganj- A Peace Avenue

Named after "Sir Donald Friell McLeod", McLeod Ganj is a hill station in the outskirts of Dharamshala in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Spreaded on the slopes of Dhauladhar Ranges, it is rich in Tibetan Culture and artefacts. The nearest airport is the Kangra Airport, 20 Km from Dharamshala; major railway station is the Pathankot railway station, 90 Km while the road transport is the best providing regular bus and cab facility.

Tsuglagkhang- the Dalai Lama’s Temple

Tsuglagkhang is the place where His Holiness Dalai Lama resides. It is enriched with the beauty of the Tibetan sculptures and the peace within the complex. The centre of attraction is the statue of Lord Buddha, Chenrezig and the Guru Rinpoche. It also includes historic paintings, handicrafts, pottery, documents, etc.

Tibetan Museum

The museum is located inside the complex of Tsuglagkhang, includes a collection of Tibetan Art, paintings of ancient past, documents, handicrafts, etc. It is purely the work of Tibetan workmanship which depicts historic reports, handiwork, earthenware and various canvases.

Namgyal Monastery

 Situated within the Tsuglagkhang complex, it is the home of His holiness Dalai Lama. It is the largest Tibetan Temple outside Tibet. This place shatters its beauty as it sits in the shades of Dhauladhar Ranges and one can meet its sole in the peace of this monastery.


Bhagsu Falls

 Bhagsu Falls is the most famous tourist spot in the McLeod Ganj premises and perhaps the most loved as it flourishes the peace and serenity of nature. The waterfall streams from the Dhauladhar Valley with freezing water and a place for picnic spot.





Bhagsunath Temple

 Surrounded by the tradition Gorkhas and Hindu Community, in the lushed greenery of mountains and pools, it is one of the oldest ancient temples of temple. It is surrounded by two pools which is believed by the locals to be sacred with miraculous power of healing. So, next time when you visit Bhagsunath Temple, do visit the sacred pools.

Dal Lake

Another famous tourist spot in McLeod Ganj near Tota Rani Village is the Dal Lake, one of the finest places to visit in McLeod Ganj. The lake is surrounded by deodar trees and a home of variety of fishes. One can also spot a Shiv Temple on the bank of the lake.


St. Johns Church in the Wilderness

 Located in the forest near the Forsyth Ganj, this Anglican Church is a neo-Gothic stone building constructed in the year, 1852. The church signifies its beauty by the densely deodar trees and the Belgian strained- glass window, the church is dedicated to John the Baptist.




Masroor Temple

 The Masroor temple is one of the famous tourist spots in the region. Build in the 8th century; the temple reveals the beauty of the North Indian- Nagra architectural style and the monolithic carvings on rocks.


Triund

 Also, known as the crown of Dharamshala, it is the most popular tourist trekking spot for all the visitors of McLeod Ganj. Triund is rich with its rocky terrains and scenic landscapes. Visitors enjoy trekking and camping during their trek.
